Luke Rudkowski talks with Abby Martin of MediaRoots.org and RT about U.S. Senator Rand Paul's attempt to get her arrested and stripped of her press credentials for asking him tough questions in the Capitolbuilding.
A week after our video with Abby Martin came out on YouTube, the RT office, where Abby works, got an ominous phone call from the Senate Media Relations Committee.
The Committee was acting on behalf of Rand Paul and threatened both Abby and the entire RT news organization.
- The threats included ambiguous "charges" for violating the rules of the Committee floor, Abby's possible arrest and the termination of her and the entire office's press credentials.
After a month of meetings and deliberation, the Senate Media Relations office backed down and did not make good on any of their threats.

A Central Valley man who shined a laser pointer at a police helicopter two years ago was sentenced to 14 years in prison Monday, a stiff sentence that comes during a national crackdown on “lasing” aircraft, authorities said.
In handing down the penalty, U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill said distracting pilots with lasers is a serious offense with potentially deadly consequences.
[...]Sergio Patrick Rodriguez, 26, of Clovis, and his girlfriend Jennifer Lorraine Coleman, 23, were convicted of using a high-powered laser pointer to strike the cockpits of a Fresno police helicopter and a hospital transport helicopter near the Fresno Yosemite International Airport in the summer of 2012.
Crew members on both flights testified that the laser interfered with their vision.

DALLAS -- A Dallas police officer pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor assault in connection with 2011 assault on his estranged wife.
Senior Cpl. Kristoffer Lewis received two years probation in a plea deal with prosecutors. A jury had been selected and the trial was about to start when Lewis accepted the plea deal.
[...]Lewis was accused of slamming his wife’s head into a door frame and punching her in the back.
The police took two years to bring the case up for a hearing, all the while taxpayers were being looted to pay his salary.
