"- Myndigheternas spioner är inga stiliga James Bond -typer, utan slemmiga och läbbiga skalbaggar som nu börjat springa runt i panik eftersom stenen de gömt sig under, vilken tidigare skyddat dem från dagsljus, nu har slitits bort..."

WikiLeaks founder and journalist, Julian Assange, has marked the third year spent in detention in UK under constant threat of extradition to Sweden.
On December 7, 2010 Assange was taken into custody after voluntarily attending a British police station. He spent 10 days behind bars, before being released on bail with a residence requirement at Ellingham Hall in Norfolk, England.
The journalist is wanted for questioning in Sweden in relation to a sexual misconduct investigation, which he labeled as politically motivated.

- Swedish authorities’ repeatedly refused to question Assange via video conference or personally in London, pressing for an extradition to Sweden.
After the British Supreme Court upheld the WikiLeaks founder’s extradition warrant in June 2012, he found asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where he remains in a five square-meter room.

- Storbritannien har hittills lagt över 10 miljoner dollar på att låta polisen övervaka Ecuadors ambassad dygnet runt...
“If a small publisher can beat the Pentagon, then some committed and strong political groups in various countries don't have to be quite as scared of US as they have been before,” Assange said in a comprehensive interview given to Slovenia's Delo newspaper.
“The US intelligence agencies have a big budget and immense technological resources, but the more we learn about them, the more we see how incompetent they are. They are definitely not real-life James Bonds. More a vast number of sickly office workers dreaming about their next holiday.”
Assange has acidly compared the government agencies that had their activities exposed by WikiLeaks’ revelations, to “creepy and sleazy beetles which start to run around in panic when the stone which was shielding them from the daylight is torn away.”
This panic has led to a severe crackdown on whistleblowers. The most recent example has been the persecution of Edward Snowden, a former NSA contractor, who is wanted in the US on espionage charges and has found temporary asylum in Russia.[...]

--NSA, GCHQ 'planted agents' into World of Warcraft, Second Life to spy on gamers--
SvaraRaderaDecember 09, 2013
The NSA and the UK’s GCHQ spying agencies have collected players’ charts and deployed real-life agents into online World of Warcraft and Second Life games, a new leak by whistleblower Edward Snowden has revealed.
An NSA document from 2008, titled “Exploiting Terrorist Use of Games & Virtual Environments,” was published Monday by The Guardian in partnership with The New York Times and ProPublica.
In the report, the agency warned of the risk of leaving games communities under-monitored and described them as a "target-rich communications network" where intelligence targets could “hide in plain sight.”
The document showed that the US and UK spy agencies were collecting large amounts of data in the Xbox Live console network, which has more than 48 million players.
Real-life agents have been deployed into the World of Warcraft multiplayer online role-playing game and the virtual world of Second Life, in which people interact with each other through avatars.
The NSA and GCHQ also tried to recruit potential informants among the gamers, the report said.
