Protesters in Mexico City have attacked the presidential palace in the latest expression of revulsion at the apparent massacre of 43 trainee teachers.

The wooden door was briefly set alight but the protesters did not get inside.

A group carrying torches broke away from what had been a mostly peaceful protest demanding justice for the students, who were abducted six weeks ago and apparently murdered and incinerated after an operation involving corrupt police in league with drug gang members.

Mexico Violence:

A group of masked protesters in Mexico armed with bats, metal pipes, and machetes clashed with riot police who tried to block them from getting through to Acapulco airport. The protests first started at the end of September over the abduction of 43 students who were detained by police and have not been seen since. ***

Mexican riot police have suppressed a violent student protest which tried to storm Mexico City's airport. The crowd raged as part of a national strike over the alleged government involvement in the “disappearance” of 43 students almost two month ago. http://rt.com/news/207491-mexico-clashes-national-strike/

Police engaged some 300 masked demonstrators who threw Molotov cocktails and shot fireworks at law enforcement lines outside the capital’s Benito Juárez international airport.

- More than 30 Mexican cities are participating in the national strike demonstrations.

- However, the largest are happening in Mexico City and in the state of Guerrero, where the crime took place in late September.

To block youths from marching onto the airport, hundreds of riot police were deployed to surround the angry crowd chanting “We want them alive!” Young people began attacking the police blocking their passage.

Police, armed with anti-riot shields, charged at protesters.
The confrontation along Fray Servando two kilometers from the international airport lasted about half an hour.
Mexico city is once again engulfed in chaos as three marches in Mexico City are taking place which started at 17:00 local time (23:00 GMT), and are due converge on the central square, or Zocalo, on the 114th anniversary of the day the Mexican Revolution to overthrow dictator Porfirio Diaz began in 1910, Reuters reports.
The disappearance of 43 students near the town of Iguala over 6 weeks ago continues to fuel outrage across Mexico as protests steadily intensify. The students were detained on September 26, following a protest where a group of students clashed with police. They have been missing ever since.

Their classmates blamed their “disappearance” on corrupt government and police with alleged close ties to drug cartels. Mass graves were discovered in the area in early October, but initial tests suggested they were not those of the students. More bodies have been found since then, and now the accuracy of the initial tests is under question.

The disappearance of 43 students near the town of Iguala over 6 weeks ago continues to fuel outrage across Mexico. While public anger is growing over the government's handling of the case, protesters are blocking roads and demanding justice.

Over a thousand student protested in Mexico City on Sunday, blocking a busy avenue with rubbish bins. The demonstration was called after two students were shot and injured by police at the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on Saturday.

The student march, which began at Copilco metro station, made its way to Rectoria, the heart of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

After the peacful demosntraion ended, a group of around 20 masked students set oil containers on fire and threw rocks smashing windows of a bank and a petrol station in a business area located outside of the university.

On Sunday, during the G20 Summit in Australia, attended by Mexican President Pena Nieto among others, demonstrators demanded justice in the Ayotzinapa case. A group of protesters carrying Australian and Mexican flags emblazoned with the number 43 gathered in Brisbane.

They also had banners saying: "You are not welcome in Australia," and demanded the Mexican president's resignation.[...]

  3. -Mexican Military Threatens Intervention against Mass Protests-

November 22, 2014 By Eric London - World Socialist Web Site / Global Research

The Mexican state is gripped by a deepening political crisis amidst mass protests over the disappearance and likely massacre of 43 student teachers.

The military has threatened to intervene as popular anger mounts against the government and the entire political apparatus.

On Thursday, hundreds of thousands of workers and youth converged on Mexico City’s Zocalo Square. Many of the parents of the normalistas from the Ayotzinapa Rural Normal School took part in the rally, which was held just under two months after the disappearance of their children in late September.

Participants denounced the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto, which is complicit in the disappearance of the students and is widely hated for its right-wing, pro-business policies.

The military has responded with ominous warnings about the danger of social “instability.” At a military graduation ceremony Thursday, General Salvador Cienfuegos, Peña Nieto’s defense secretary, alluded to the demonstrations by citing “insecurity” as one of “the great challenges we confront.”

The Army, Cienfuegos declared, “acts with strength and determination when it becomes necessary.” He added, “In times of disunity is when the country has suffered its major fractures.”

This is the standard language of a military clique prepared to intervene with force in political life, and the Mexican ruling class has a long history of ordering military attacks on demonstrations.[...]

  4. More mass graves unearthed in search for missing Mexican students

    Published time: November 25, 2014

Civilian volunteers and NGOs have found at least four mass graves in a Mexico search operation for the remains of the 43 students who went missing after protests in September.
Information about the number of newly found mass graves varies, with Associated Press reporting 10 sites found on Sunday, in addition to at least 15 other mass graves discovered during the two-month operation.
Seven of the newly found graves contain human bones, while other sites consist of dirty clothing stained with blood.
The new graves were discovered at La Laguna, just west of Iguala, where police officers clashed with protesting students in September, shooting at several buses transporting protesters. The accident claimed the lives of three students and three civilians. The survivors were allegedly handed over to a local Guerreros Unidos (United Warriors) gang by the local police and nobody has seen the students since.[...]
