This is the second setback for the US at the UN this week, as the Human Rights Committee released a report earlier in the week critical of the country over its mass surveillance practices, use of drone strikes, large prison population and the military's Guantanamo Bay facility.

President Barack Obama visited with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia on Friday to reaffirm the alliance between the two countries.
Saudi Arabia is the world's largest supplier of oil and a top buyer of equipment from US defense companies, making the country strategically important to the US. Because of this, the country's human-rights abuses are often not scrutinized as heavily by the US.

Saudi Arabia has introduced a series of new laws which define atheists as terrorists, according to a report from Human Rights Watch.***
In a string of royal decrees and an overarching new piece of legislation to deal with terrorism generally, the Saudi King Abdullah has clamped down on all forms of political dissent and protests that could “harm public order”.
The new laws have largely been brought in to combat the growing number of Saudis travelling to take part in the civil war in Syria, who have previously returned with newfound training and ideas about overthrowing the monarchy.[...]

NATO:s Operation Gladio, må ha avslöjats 1990. Men det finns inget som säger att verksamheten tog slut bara för att den blev deklassifierad. Tvärtom så kan vi se att den moderna underrättelsetjänsterna i väst arbetar fortfarande än idag med denna operation. När Sovjet föll, kunde NATO flytta in sin operation in i Östeuropa, Kaukasus och Centralasien. Före detta Sovjet-stater blev de nya områden där Gladio kunde operera. Och som vi ser är Ukraina inget undantag.
