Net neutrality protesters rally in front of White House

  ***
Publicerades den 6 nov 2014
Demonstrators gathered outside of the White House on Thursday to advocate for the classification of internet service providers as “common carriers,” ensuring net neutrality.
***
The protest comes as the Federal Communication Commission is considering new rules that would allow ISPs to charge content providers for faster connections, which many fear will allow the corporate giants to quash the internet as we know it.

RT’s Manuel Rapolo speaks to several attendees to learn more.

The FCC is moving ahead with their plan to kill net neutrality. In response, Fight for the Future have organized more than twenty #InternetEmergency protests across the U.S.

FCC's Tom Wheeler Confronted

***
At 6:55am PopularResistance.org blockaded Tom Wheeler’s driveway just as he was getting into his car. After a while walked down the street, presumably to take public transit to work. Talk about a slow lane.

  1. Russia Nears Completion Of Second “Holy Grail” Gas Deal With China

    Source: Zero Hedge

Six months ago, something few had expected would take place in 2014, or even in the coming years, happened: under Western pressure and out of a desire to diversify away from an increasingly hostile European market, Russia signed the so-called “Holy Grail” gas deal with China, pivoting away from the west and toward with Beijing.

As part of the deal, the two nations reached a $400 billion agreement to construct the Power of Siberia pipeline, which will deliver 38 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to China. The compromise was a lower price than Gazprom would have otherwise hoped for, however in taking a cue right out of Amazon, “Russia would make up in volume what it lost in price.” This eastern route will connect Russia’s Kovykta and Chaynda fields with China, where recoverable resources are estimated at about 3 trillion cubic meters. 2. Our protests last week WORKED!?

    2014-11-10 Evan Greer from FFTF - fightforthefuture.org

    Guys!

    Our protests last week WORKED!

After months of intense public pressure, the second largest online protest in history, and millions of emails and phone calls, President Obama just released an incredibly strong statement calling for the FCC to protect net neutrality using full Title II reclassification.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/net-neutrality

This is game-changing. We’ve been hearing for weeks from our allies in DC that the only thing that could stop FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler from moving ahead with his sham proposal to gut net neutrality was if we could get the President to step in. So we did everything in our power to make that happen.

Our friends at PopularResistance.org pulled off an amazing action that does just that.

At 6:55am they blockaded Tom Wheeler’s driveway just as he was getting into his car. After a while walked down the street, presumably to take public transit to work. Talk about a slow lane.
